How to Work With Clients Who Have Chronic Pain Join the members of the Feldenkrais Guild as we sit down with Ann Harman to map out how to best work with clients who suffer from chronic pain. (Suggested reading: Norman Doidge, The Brain that Changes Itself, Chapter 7: Pain: The Dark Side of Neuroplasticity). Chronic pain is a widespread issue. If you can work effectively with those suffering from chronic pain, you can easily build a successful practice almost anywhere. Chronic pain is not only a musculoskeletal issue, but also a neurological habit. Many people carry beliefs and mindsets that interfere with their healing, so it is important to deal with both mind and body. We will discuss the beliefs that commonly accompany chronic pain, and how to help people change their belief systems, as well how to work with these people in functional integration. This cafe will be full of helpful information that can be implemented into your practice. Ann has provided an invaluable document summarizing her experience in working with people with chronic pain. It is at the end of this document. About Ann. Ann Harman is a retired osteopathic physician who completed Feldenkrais® training in 1997.
