SUMMARY:Up\, Down\, Across & Over | Moving Through Space in New Ways
DESCRIPTION:As infants\, we taught ourselves to roll over\, sit up\, stand\, and walk. In this session we’ll bring in some fun lessons along these lines that get us moving through space—up\, down\, across and over. The period of movement development from rolling over to first walking steps (roughly ages 0 to 1.5) is one of enormous growth for wee humans. This explosion of motor development runs concurrently with consolidating our first sense-of-self as individuals and members of community. The lessons in this series will touch into this newness—gently and playfully.

SUMMARY:POSTURE
DESCRIPTION:March classes will focus on posture–how Awareness Through Movement® can help us negotiate with gravity so we can sit\, stand and walk with greater presence and ease. The lessons this month will focus on finding more space and length in the spine and accessing the spine-supporting muscles of the abdomen\, pelvic floor\, and back. Gravity is a constant\, but you can learn to sense it and use it to give you more freedom.

SUMMARY:The Balanced Runner Foundations Series (ATM® Teacher Training)
DESCRIPTION:In this special course for Feldenkrais® teachers and trainees you’ll learn to teach The Balanced Runner System™ Foundations series of Awareness Through Movement® lessons for runners. \nThis course is composed of seven weeks of material with a two week break in early April. Each week you’ll do a lesson from The Balanced Runner System™ online running form course\, which contains the sequence of ATM® lessons Jae has honed over 24 years of professional practice to lay the movement foundations for healthy distance/endurance running form. (The lessons are also relevant to sprinting but are not comprehensive for that sport.) \nIn addition\, each week in a live call Jae will discuss the internal structure of the week’s lesson\, how it meets a particular set of needs in running\, and how it relates to the other lessons in the course. This will enable you to go beyond the personal experiences you had with the lesson to master the material and be able to teach it\, adapting and improvising as needed while maintaining its relevance and effectiveness. \nUpon completing the course (including attending at least 6 of the 7 live calls or a makeup call) and demonstrating competence with the lessons\, you’ll receive authorization to say you’re teaching The Balanced Runner Foundations Lesson Series and will be listed as a teacher of the series on balancedrunner.com.

SUMMARY:Spring Into Challenges
DESCRIPTION:In the face of a challenge\, many of us hold our breath\, speed up\, and shift our focus to what we DON’T want to have happen—robbing ourselves of our most valuable resources at the exact moment that we need them most! \nThis 6 week course is a fun and compassionate way to observe your own unique patterns of protection and practice spreading your effort more effectively inside of a challenge. Each lesson will build on the one before it\, so this series will be sold as a package. Lessons will be recorded and sent out to all who sign up in case you need to miss a week or two. \nWe will meet over Zoom (11am Pacific Time) to engage in a 50 minute movement sequence\, followed by optional discussion and reflection. \nWhat you will need: \n– 4 hardback books\, large enough to cover the entire sole of your foot (children’s picture books \, light coffee table books or sketch books work well) \n– A space on the floor that is large enough that you could make a snow angel \n– An open mind and a playful spirit \nIf you are wondering if this course is right for you\, please book a consultation with me and we can discuss any concerns. \nCan’t wait!

SUMMARY:Beginnings Becoming Endings And Back To Beginnings
DESCRIPTION:How do we listen\, appreciate what we sense\, then ‘soften the edges of our habits’ to find the space where learning and new possibilities can emerge?\nThis delicate balance is key to fostering a dynamic and responsive learning environment.\nBy cultivating a mindset of curiosity and openness\, we can tune in to the nuanced signals of our experience\, and respond in ways that honour our own unique journey.\nIn practice\, this involves slowing down\, creating moments of stillness to truly hear and feel what is being communicated. It means suspending our immediate judgments and preconceptions\, allowing ourselves to be guided by the unfolding interaction.\nBy becoming clearer about HOW we create a learning environment for ourselves\, we learn to create a shared space of inquiry when working with others\, where both practitioner and client can explore new ways of moving\, thinking\, and being. \nThe event will be on 4 evenings (Sunday\, Wednesday\, Sunday\, Wednesday)\, each 2.5 hrs. \nThe Instructor is Julie Peck. a senior Feldenkrais® practitioner\, trainer\, and educator with decades of experience teaching the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education internationally. She has served as an Educational Director and Trainer in multiple Feldenkrais® Professional Training Programs and is widely respected for the clarity\, depth\, and rigor of her teaching.\nJulie teaches advanced trainings\, post-graduate workshops\, and practitioner-focused intensives\, where she challenges students to observe more carefully\, intervene less\, and allow learning to emerge from experience.

SUMMARY:MARROW: somatics\, embodiment & meditation retreat
DESCRIPTION:MARROW: an emergent experience of aliveness & connection\na retreat in somatics\, embodiment & meditation\, facilitated by Sandrine Harris (GCFP\, SEP\, RSMT/E) \nMARROW—like the life-giving and potent marrow of our bones—is a generative experience of unearthing aliveness. It is a process of unlearning patterns of thinking\, feeling\, and moving that have been forged unconsciously over time\, and often from outside messages. In this repatterning together through embodied presence and connection\, there are invitations into quiet internal explorations\, meaningful conversations and listening\, personal writing\, flows of creativity\, sensory movement\, and meditation for waking up to our whole human experience. \nThrough a weave of somatics (body sensing and process)\, embodiment (presence of the layers of mind\, heart\, and body)\, and meditation (in both movement and stillness)\, we integrate qualities of the living we are in\, and out of the push of doing. Together\, we forge a path connecting our inner landscapes with belonging—in community and within the natural world. \nThis program offers a pathway for processing and integrating our lived experience through non-verbal\, sensory pathways. It is a way of waking up to ourselves\, sensing our inner rhythms\, and being with grief\, joy\, and everything in between. \nIn this program\, you will experience: \n– Guided movement flows for all bodies and everybody\, drawn from dance\, martial arts\, Feldenkrais® \, and more\n– Somatic sensory movement for learning to listen through and with our bodies\n– Guided meditation\, in supported laying and sitting\, and walking meditation indoors and outdoors\n– Forest bathing and an embodied exploration of connection with the natural world\n– Creative mark-making on paper with paints\n– Personal writing\, reflection\, and sharing\n– Rest\, as a part of the process of honoring our bodies and remembering the dignity of rest\n– You will emerge from MARROW feeling embodied\, present\, and connected with a greater sense of belonging. \nNOTE: No experience with somatics\, movement\, or meditation is needed to join us. All adults 20+ years of age are welcome. This program is facilitated through a trauma-sensitive approach. The final evening includes an energizing\, celebratory movement party.
